2019 https://www.mchoule.com/2019-2/ https://www.mchoule.com/2019-2/#respond Wed, 02 Jan 2019 00:17:00 +0000 http://www.mchoule.com/?p=1267 My mind is pretty much always buzzing with grand ideas of what I want to do, but the start of a new year not only amplifies it, but adds a small layer of shame for all of my unfinished projects, writing or otherwise. This year is no exception, though I am trying to be nicer on myself.

notebook and pen on wooden desktop with 'GYWO 2019' printed in large white letters with a black shadow. under that, 'writing decathlon' in handwritten white letters with a black shadow.

This year again, I am participating in the Get your Words Out challenge (if you want in, inscription closes January 15th). This is an active community of writers with numerous pledges for the year, both in word count goals and days written goals depending on your preferences. I broke an escalating stride with a lost this year, with only 231 days written on my 240 days pledge, so of course this year I went for the next pledge with 350 days. It could be a disaster. 🙂

18 diverse books and author reading challenge

I will also participate in a diversity reading challenge. If you have a book that fit it the categories, don’t hesitate to drop a comment. It can be yours or someone else.

I’m also hoping to open an Etsy shop for some craft I’m doing. More on that later.

I am also going to attempt to do a Jenna Moreci inspired quarterly goals list. To summarize, every three months you set 10 to 20 goals. To count the quarter as a success, you need to accomplish at least half of your list. I am going to make a separate post on the blog for this.

I may not have accomplish everything I wanted, but I think I did some groundwork so that I will this year, and I am hopeful for 2019.

    xx

One Stop For Writers: An Online Library Unlike Any Other https://www.mchoule.com/one-stop-for-writers-an-online-library-unlike-any-other/ https://www.mchoule.com/one-stop-for-writers-an-online-library-unlike-any-other/#comments Wed, 07 Oct 2015 12:19:49 +0000 http://www.mchoule.com/?p=1214 Every once in a while, something comes along that changes things for the better.

And in the world of writers, this is especially welcoming, because we all know just how much sweat, courage and persistence it takes to write a book and then release it into the world.

Today I’m pointing you toward a new website which I hope will help writers brainstorm stronger characters, craft deeper, more compelling plots, and teach us how to be more effective with our description so we draw readers in.

One Stop For Writers is a collaboration between Becca Puglisi and Angela Ackerman, authors of The Emotion Thesaurus, and Lee Powell, creator of Scrivener for Windows. This powerhouse online library is filled with one-of-a-kind descriptive thesaurus collections, tools, tutorials and much more, all geared to provide the resources you need to strengthen your prose and write more efficiently.

Want to check One Stop For Writers out?

Hop on over to Writers Helping Writers for their Launch Week festivities (October 7-14th)! If you know Angela, Lee and Becca already, you probably can guess there will be some great prizes, and probably a bit of paying-it-forward too.
I will be reviewing the product somewhen in December, once I had time to explore and be past the Nanowrimo frenzy.

Some details still needs tweaking, but I am somewhat satisfied.

On another front, I have a story in the Love’s Landscape Event. It’ll be out sometime in July, and until then, I will be posting one or two small quote a day. I will keep you guys informed.
