Because I am obviously really bad at this, I will abstain from any promise for the moment. I’ll only disappoint.

I have updated the Works in Progress page and I am working on rewriting my bio to reflect the currant me better.

2019 https://www.mchoule.com/2019-2/ https://www.mchoule.com/2019-2/#respond Wed, 02 Jan 2019 00:17:00 +0000 http://www.mchoule.com/?p=1267 My mind is pretty much always buzzing with grand ideas of what I want to do, but the start of a new year not only amplifies it, but adds a small layer of shame for all of my unfinished projects, writing or otherwise. This year is no exception, though I am trying to be nicer on myself.

notebook and pen on wooden desktop with 'GYWO 2019' printed in large white letters with a black shadow. under that, 'writing decathlon' in handwritten white letters with a black shadow.

This year again, I am participating in the Get your Words Out challenge (if you want in, inscription closes January 15th). This is an active community of writers with numerous pledges for the year, both in word count goals and days written goals depending on your preferences. I broke an escalating stride with a lost this year, with only 231 days written on my 240 days pledge, so of course this year I went for the next pledge with 350 days. It could be a disaster. 🙂

18 diverse books and author reading challenge

I will also participate in a diversity reading challenge. If you have a book that fit it the categories, don’t hesitate to drop a comment. It can be yours or someone else.

I’m also hoping to open an Etsy shop for some craft I’m doing. More on that later.

I am also going to attempt to do a Jenna Moreci inspired quarterly goals list. To summarize, every three months you set 10 to 20 goals. To count the quarter as a success, you need to accomplish at least half of your list. I am going to make a separate post on the blog for this.

I may not have accomplish everything I wanted, but I think I did some groundwork so that I will this year, and I am hopeful for 2019.

    xx

I’m taking back control of the Blog https://www.mchoule.com/im-taking-back-control-of-the-blog/ https://www.mchoule.com/im-taking-back-control-of-the-blog/#respond Tue, 25 Aug 2015 18:21:33 +0000 http://www.mchoule.com/?p=1211 I’m really feeling like I’m back into the rythm of things, and it starts with making sure I actually do the things I set out to do.

With any other resolution, I have to hope it’ll stick this time.

And to put all the chances on my side, I’m starting slow this time, instead of coming up with a million post a week. First, the photograhy are back.

The main reason they’d stop coming was because I had some trouble with the wordpress application on my tablet.

Believe me when I say I took enough pictures in the last few months to last me a lifetime.

The only other post on the schedule right now is the Flash Fiction which are still on the occasionnal for the moment. I really want to concentrate on my longer work for the moment.

So from now on until my return to Canada in October, the photographs are your only sure value.

    I shouldn’t mess that up.

Why do you write? https://www.mchoule.com/why-do-you-write/ https://www.mchoule.com/why-do-you-write/#respond Fri, 31 Jul 2015 11:27:12 +0000 http://www.mchoule.com/?p=1184 This was the question asked in this week Flash Fiction Challenge on Chuck Wendig’s blog, and I thought it was a good question to start the new chapter of my blogging experience.

I don’t always feel like I know how to answer this question.

    I write because I do.

But that’s not really the most verbosed answer.

When I look at my childhood, here is so many hint that pulls me toward writing as a career that I find it hard to believe I haven’t always known.

Every game I played would have a storytelling aspect in it. I would create lenghty character portrait before make-believe games with my friends or my sisters. Whether it was barbies, figurines or little cars, if there was no story it was boring and I wanted no part of it. (Shout out to the girl my parents forced me to play with who just wanted to play dress up and brush her barbies’s hair.) My primary school had some craft books about creating a physical book with a spine and everything. Couldn’t get enought of it. With my girl friends, we would plan magazine to publish, not that it ever go anywhere.

Still, somehow, I don’t think I even considered there was someone being paid for writing the story.

Then I discovered fanfiction, and I published my first stories where Sirius Black got to live. I started writing more and more,

The more I wrote, the more ideas jumped to mind. Characters started talking to me, or talking to each other. I always got some dialogue or another in mind, and sometime they repeat it over and over until I write it down.

As long as I have characters, I have stories to tell.

So I suppose ‘I write because I do’ is as good an answer as any.

So tell me? Why do YOU write? Alternativcely for readers, why do YOU read?

Trip of a Lifetime https://www.mchoule.com/trip-of-a-lifetime/ https://www.mchoule.com/trip-of-a-lifetime/#respond Sun, 03 May 2015 13:11:16 +0000 http://www.mchoule.com/?p=1174 In the upcoming hours, I’m getting ready to get into a plane to Paris.  The plan; a five months backpacking trip where I’ll follow the wind.  I have little plans… A few days in Paris, then Mons in Belgium to see my younger sister. A workshop in Berlin I’m really excited about, and for which I’m hoping not to get too starstuck.  I’ll also be going at Euro Pride Con in Munich this July which promise I lot of fun.

I’ll be back in time for Gayromlit San Diego in October.

It’s a bit of a crazy ride, and I’ll be blogging and or vlogging about it when I can. So stay tune.

Some news. https://www.mchoule.com/some-news/ https://www.mchoule.com/some-news/#respond Sun, 30 Nov 2014 16:18:03 +0000 http://www.mchoule.com/?p=999 Yesterday, around nine thirty PM, I became a Nanowrimo 2014 Winner with 50 036 words. It makes it my third consecutive win. Every year is a bit easier and harder at the same time since I try to have new goal every year.

I am celebrating with a new website (yeah, I know, again!), but hopefully this time it will last!
